So... This week has been a pretty demanding one! I'm sorry that this blog is so late, but I hope you're happy there is one at all!!
Monday was my first day totally alone with Lily! There was no family here and Thomas went back to work! Let's just say I was a little nervous!! All weekend she had had some kind of congestion/gasiness and would gag and spit up bubbles... so needless to say I was convinced she was going to die as soon as Thomas walked out the door monday morning and left me alone with her!! But instead of dying she decided she wanted to eat! And eat! And eat!! She was miraculously cured of the gagging and now just wanted my boob constantly! The longest she slept for two days was an hour straight! Most of the time she took 30 minute cat naps, in my lap, between feedings! By Tuesday night I was convinced she wasn't getting good enough milk from me and that that was the reason she was eating so much! So I caved in and gave her a bottle of formula... feeling completely guilty and worthless the whole time! But even after she ate the formula she wanted to eat again 30 minutes later!! So it finally dawned on me to read the nursing book the hospital gave me! And right there it said that it was normal for babies to have a growth spurt around 3 weeks and to be fussy and want to eat around the clock and that after a few days my milk supply would catch up to her demand and even out the feedings!!!! So then I felt even worse for giving her the formula because all I had to do was read and I would have figured it out! But owell... she survived and the next day she was sleeping 3-4 hours between feedings just like old times:)
Lily is getting so big! It's so amazing to watch her grow! She has started looking at me while I talk to her and she'll even turn her head and track me if I move from side to side while I'm talking! That is very exciting because I am sooo ready for her to be able to interact with us! But in the back of my mind I know that she is only going to be this small for such a short amount of time and that I need to just cuddle her and love her as much as I can right now!! I had heard or read somewhere that it was impossible to spoil babies this young... but I'm not too sure about that anymore!! She's pretty particular about where she sleeps! I have to say that we are sooo blessed because she doesn't cry at allll unless she needs to eat or needs to be changed! But God forbid you put this girl in a basinette lol!! She will sleep in the bed with us, in our arms, in the car seat or on a pillow beside me on the couch! But that's it! Which means I have to be with her the whole day at this point!! I'm slowly trying to get her introduced to the swing and the bouncy seat but don't want to rush it since she still doesn't fit in them yet! Hopefully in a week or two I'll be able to leave her in one of those so I can actually get stuff done around the house! Poor Thomas has been pulling double duty! He comes home from working all day and then straightens up the house and helps with dinner and the baby!! He is the best husband I could have ever asked for!!
Things really have settled down nicely though!! We have taken her out to eat and shopping a few times this week and she is wonderful! Never a hassle at all! We just strap her into her sling and Thomas carries her around and she sleeps the whole time! She loves that thing:) People are always so surprised to see her in the sling though! They always ask if "there's really a baby in there!?" lol!!
Tomorrow she will be ONE MONTH OLD!!! -- F.Y.I. I'm not sure how the weeks and months work out, age-wise! So I just count every Wednesday as a new week and the 20th of every month a new month!!-- Thomas' squadron is throwing me a baby shower in the morning! We decided to do it after she was born since there was so much going on this summer and I had a feeling (hope) that she would come a little early! So I'm looking forward to that! Thomas bought his new T.V. tonight!!! He got a 46" flat screen and is putting together the new tv stand now!! He got 3 of his friends from work to come in on their lunch today to help him get our huge entertainment donated to the Airman's attic and then we spent most of the evening rearranging the living room so that we could have more floor space so that I can eventually put Lily down on her Tummy Time mat to play and not have to worry about the dogs trampling her on their way to the door:)
Next month is going to be pretty neat for us! On the 4th we're going to be in jacksonville to celebrate my baby sister's 11th birthday and then on the 5th we are going to be dedicating Lily to the Lord at our home church and hopefully having my dear friend kassi come and do some pictures of that and a little family shoot afterwards! Then on the 11th we are going to be driving down to Florida for 3 weeks! Thomas has a UAV course there and Lily and I are going to tag along!! I love that area in Florida and can't wait to take Lily to the beach for the first time and to experience our first family vacation of sorts!!! So look out for all those great pictures next month!!!
I guess that's all I have to report right now!! I'll post pictures of the baby shower and of miss Lily all dressed up for her 1 month bday tomorrow or Sunday!
Hope you have a great weekend!!
